Which Subframe to Buy

  • For B8 cars with hydraulic steering, you do not need to get a different subframe. Any B8 subframe will work.

  • For B8.5 cars with electric steering, you will need a subframe from a B8.5 RS5 (8K0-399-315-H). The reason is that there are missing bolt holes on the B8 A4/S4/A5/S5 subframes needed to mount the V8.

Which Engine Mounts to Buy

Only use 3.0T engine mounts. We used 034’s billet motorsport engine mounts with our swap.

Subfframe and Engine Mount Heat Shields

Make sure the subframe you purchase comes with the original engine mount heat shields shown in the photo below; they are needed for the swap. Part numbers underlined below have been verified by us and used in a swap. Others are part numbers we found using Audi parts diagrams; use at your own risk, and please let us know if you confirm they work.

For B8 subframe (hydraulic steering), the heat shield part numbers are:

  • Left - 8K0-399-059-B or 8K0-399-377-AE

  • Right - 8K0-399-060-B or 8K0-198-381-H (supersedes 8K0-399-378-AA)

For B8.5 subframe (electric steering), the subframe part number is 8K0-399-315-H. The heat shield part numbers are:

  • Left - 8K0-399-059-J (supersedes 8K0-399-377-AT)

  • Right - 8K0-399-060-J (supersedes 8K0-399-378-AJ)
